As this Memorial Day arrives upon us I would like to give thanks to my fellow brothers and sisters in arms as they protect our borders, our waters, our lives and the blanket of freedom we sleep under every night.

Let us remember those who serve, those who have served and those we have lost. My God bless them and keep them safe in their time of need and always.

Hunters: Declan and Tori by Shiloh Walker

Tori McAdams is a sensible, disciplined and hard-nosed woman. She is a trained professional private investigator on a case. During the course of this case she runs into what she believes is a crazy stalker. In her confrontation with the stalker she shoots him in the face and he actually gets up and tries to come after her. Knowing he will be coming for her she feels fear for the first time and she calls on the assistance of, Declan, a detective she has dealt with in the past. She believes he can protect and assist her even though she has resisted the wild attraction they have felt for each other. Before he can get to her and help her, the stalker, who turns out to be an evil vampire, bites and ravages her.

Twilight Illusions by Maggie Shayne

There could be no doubt that the one called Damien was the master of shadows, the greatest of his accursed kind. But now his ancient mantle of mystic power was threatened by a terrible weakness– a fatal passion for a woman of mortal flesh and blood…

Suspicion had first drawn Shannon Mallory into the darkness, in search of the truth behind the legends that swirled around this man– if man he was. But it was not suspicion that kept her there, or even fear– it was pure, stunning desire…

For centuries, loneliness has haunted them from dusk till dawn. Yet now, from out of the darkness, shines the light of eternal life…eternal love.

I’ve pulled these from the vault. But it’s Maggie Shayne and Shiloh Walker. How can you go wrong? ;)

All I can say is I wish that Julian was the vampire loving me! This book was a perfect blend of paranormal, fast action and romance. A side of vampire I’m not used to seeing. Beautiful. Medeiros captured the true feelings that Julian and Portia shared for each other. A love created to save a life. A life returned from the love given. To me it had that Buffy/Angel thing going on. I would definately recommend this book and I’m headed out to find more books written by Teresa Medieros!

This is the sequel to “After Midnight” which introduced the sisters Caroline, Vivienne and Portia Cabot. I haven’t read “After Midnight” yet. So I must confess that I have broken a WM Commandant. Thou shall not read a story out of sequence. In my defense I have but one thing to say, “The book was on sale! I couldn’t help it!”

So to all my WM sisters please forgive the wrongs that I have done. I’ll never do it again. Unless of course the book is on sale. :P

Thanks to Jambrea, I’ve finally obligated myself to make something happen. Starting with a 400 word short story to a 20,000 word horror/erotic/ paranormal/ scifi/romance with a good dose of comedy story. What a challenge!  Hopefully this will be what it takes to light a fire under me as far as submissions go.

The rules are as follows:

  1. It must be a horror/erotic/ paranormal/ scifi/romance with a good dose of comedy
  2. At least 20k words
  3. We submit to Lyrical Press for publication
  4. If published, we check the sales figures after 90 days, to determine who won.

Submissions are due at the end of October. Good luck to my fellow Writeminded sisters who enter! And may the force be with you. :)

Another Great Story…

Stay With Me by Maya Banks
Available today from Samhain Publishing!

Getting her back will be the toughest deal they’ve ever negotiated. On the night of her fifth anniversary, Catherine Cullen-Wellesley intends to break the news to the two men in her life. She’s pregnant with their child. It’ll be the perfect preamble to the vacation they’ve promised her: Two weeks on a Jamaican beach. No cell phones, no emails, no business.

But when Logan and Rhys blow off the trip for yet another “business emergency”, Catherine faces some difficult truths. She hasn’t come first in her busy husbands’ lives in a long time. Defiantly, she packs her bags for her long-awaited vacation—alone. It’ll give her a chance to figure out what the hell she’s going to do with the rest of her life.

When Logan and Rhys come home to an empty house, they realize two things: One, it was a mistake to take Catherine for granted. Two, they’re not willing to just let her walk out of their lives.

Winning her back will be the most difficult battle of their lives—more important than any business deal they’ve ever negotiated.

Warning: This title contains explicit sex, ménage a trois, a polyamorous relationship, graphic language, and sex near a beach (and in the shower).

The rules: Tell seven random and/or interesting things about myself. Get five blog buddies to play, too and link to their blogs. Don’t forget to post the rules!

 1.    I only started reading and writing romance novels January 2008. I’m working on my first real story and a few others.

2.    I’ve always wanted to work in the medical field, but I only got as far as Nursing School. Until now, I work in a lab that does far more than anything I could have imagined.

3.    I met my husband in Fort Gordon, GA while obtaining my MOS training.

4.    The first time I met my husband I gave him the finger. We ended up going to MOS training at the same post. He asked me out and two months later we were married. I’ve been married for almost 18 years.

5.    I have two daughters, one born in Alaska and one born in Colorado.

6.    I’ve lost 30lbs between February 2007 and now.

7.    I loved the weapons firing and blowing things up in the Army. I absolutely loved the war games and driving all the big vehicles.

8.    We’ve trained our daughters to be little soldiers from the day they were born. Last week they   found a black snake that had gotten into the garage. Together they killed the thing before either of us could get home. Saying to us, “It was no big deal,” as they looked at each other, shrugged their shoulders and walked away heading for the mall.

9.    I don’t know a lot of people with blogs! So sorry Larissa, Maya, and Steph, I know you’re busy.
